Known for its remarkable beaches and hiking trails, Malibu is also beloved by How’d She Do That? host Emily Landers. Looking for a place to eat, stay, or shop with a spectacular view? This guide to Emily’s favorite coastal city will have you covered.

Malibu Farm

We only have the best memories here! I recently recorded an episode with founder Helene Henderson for the podcast, which will be live in the new year! Her cookbook is incredible. I absolutely love her delicious "I Heart You" waffles, smoked salmon hash, and refreshing watermelon juice - all pictured above.

Cafe Habana

Fun fact — this is partly owned by everyone’s favorite supermodel, Cindy Crawford! I have seen her daughter Kaia here, as well as Ashlee Simpson. Order their corn and guacamole dip! You won’t regret it.

John’s Garden

My first memory at John’s Garden was having lunch there after getting off a plane at LAX. I was visiting Luke for the first time while we were dating. He was a two-l in law school at Pepperdine at the time! Protip: Order the Black Bean Burger. It’s delicious.

Blue Bottle

Yum! I was originally introduced to Blue Bottle while living in New York City, so I was really excited to see it come to Malibu. You’ll love their iced coffee.

Malibu Beach Inn

Malibu Beach Inn

Malibu Beach Inn is one of the only waterfront luxury hotels in Malibu. A member of Leading Hotels of The World this hotel, and it’s team, are my favorite in Malibu! It holds a special place in my heart because I have so many wonderful memories here, including the photoshoot for my book cover. If you stay here, you’ll notice that the photo for my book cover was taken on one of their balconies - we just flipped it for the cover so that the seagull would be flying upward. #funfact

Malibu Country Mart

The Malibu Country Mart is a hub for good food, fashion, and more! It’s a beautiful area to walk through and you’ll likely see a celebrity - or two! I once saw Dick Van Dyke at a stop sign here.

Pure Barre

Looking to get a good workout in? I highly suggest Pure Barre. I’ve done Pure Barre for years, but this location holds a special place in my heart as I worked at the front desk in exchange for classes while Luke was in law school.

Barefoot Dreams

The coziest products with an incredible story behind each piece. Did you know? They pray over each one of their blankets — you’re literally covered in prayer!

Paige

The Paige store is referenced in our 20th podcast episode with Paige Adams-Geller! I’ve always loved Paige Denim but after “meeting” Paige through the podcast I am an even bigger fan!

Malibu Kitchen & Gourmet

This is an iconic spot in Malibu. The owner is so sweet and my husband loves their hot dishes. Their sandwiches and their desserts are to die for. Also a favorite of Jerry Seinfeld’s… shhh!

9.Howdy's.jpg

Howdy’s

Fun fact about Howdy’s — it was in Malibu for years before closing and now it’s back and better than ever! I love having brunch here.

Hikes

Some of my favorite places to hike are…

SOLSTICE CANYON — Favorite hike during off season! In the summer, the parking becomes a zoo.

WESTWARD BEACH CLIFFS — I love to park at Zuma and then walk down Westward to the trail that leads you up to the cliffs! I ran into Peter Brady (aka Christopher Knight) here one time. Once you’re at the top I’ll bet you $100 you’ll see at least one seal if not 50! If you’re lucky, you may even see a pod of dolphins or whales in the distance as well!

MALIBU CANYON — No dogs allowed, so sadly, Maui never joined us on this hike but still beautiful nonetheless!

El Matador Beach

This is one of the busiest photoshoot spots in Malibu. If you’ve seen engagements or commercials shot in Malibu, you’ve likely seen El Matador Beach. It’s a little overwhelming in the summer with so many people so I like to visit during the offseason. #LocalsOnly
